Chestnut Table

When asked to produce a table for a client with more traditional, ‘restoration hardware’ style, we worked through a bunch of design options before producing this one.

Built from reclaimed chestnut barnwood and steel tube that was chemically etched to resemble antiqued bronze, the finishes complement those in the client’s home, while the simple, geometric base satisfies my desire to do things different. The wood is a pleasure to utilize, as chestnut is nearly an extinct species, but it’s just total crap to work with. I actually built the top twice, having found the first one wouldn’t take finish well at all.
